On April 25, the 131st session of SHUPL’s Overseas Lectures, titled Sports Law-Lex Sportiva and Sports Jurisdiction, was delivered online by Professor Dimitrios P. Panagiotopoulos, Vice President of the University of Central Greece, legal counsel to the Supreme Court and Council of State of Greece, and former President of the World Sports Law Association. Professor Xiang Huiying, Vice Dean of the School of Sports Law of SHUPL, hosted the event.

Professor Panagiotopoulos explored the theoretical framework of Lex Sportiva, emphasizing its role as a specialized legal system rooted in institutional autonomy. He analyzed the interplay between international law, domestic legislation, and sports self-governance, highlighting the characteristics of sports legal order. The lecture also addressed jurisdictional principles and dispute resolution mechanisms, particularly the exclusive authority of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in cases involving doping and disciplinary matters.

During the Q&A session, Professor Panagiotopoulos engaged in lively discussions with attendees, offering fresh perspectives on legal systems and sports governance.
